A nice day for a ride.

Randy Harlem Valley RT.jpg   Today was a beautiful day for a bike ride on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail.  It’s in the area of the three corners of New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts–about an hour’s drive from here.  Fun!  We’re planning a September bike adventure in Maine, so we thought we’d try to get a little more weekend riding in.  Today’s 22 mile ride was a keeper.

Seattle. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Recently, we visited Patrick and Libby for a few days.  Libby’s mother, Ginny, just moved into a new (to her) barn home on Bainbridge Island, and we all spent July 4th at the new homestead.  Sparkler photos to come.  The next day we went to Snoqualmie Falls and the Ballard Locks, and had a great time visiting the Seattle kinfolk.  A perfect visit!  Unfortunately, Libby had to work on the 6th, but Patrick, Randy and I took the ferry out of Anacortes and visited Orcas Island.  What a beautiful, inspiring Northwest visit.  Thanks, Patrick, and Libby!

Chaundre Broomfield 6212010.mp3

My students gave their spring recital on June 21st.  Here’s Chaundre’s tune.  I’ve got some great students–though I have to admit I am enjoying a little break at the moment.  Ginny, Noah and Claire were here for five days.  What’s a visit with the Beisels without a trip around a Putt Putt golf course?  Ginny and I followed Claire and Noah, who are a little too good at mini golf–it was hard to keep up.  Everyone got at least one ace… The kids especially liked the fire-breathing dragon.  Real fire.  The weather was pretty hot, so we also did a day of indoor sports:  bowling.  The kids loved getting in the Hot Tub, or rather, the Cool Tub, and had several sessions.  Noah proved his prowess at wii, and even Claire got in on the act.  I asked Noah which activity he liked the best this trip, and the spin around the GoKart course was his favorite.  Here’s a few pics.  I miss them already.
